As part of Vietnam's effort to boost tourism and international relations, the government offers visa exemptions to citizens of 13 specific countries. This means eligible travelers can enter Vietnam for a limited time without needing to apply for a visa in advance.
List of Countries Eligible for Visa Exemption
Citizens of the following 13 countries can enter Vietnam without a visa for tourism or business purposes:
- Germany
- France
- Italy
- Spain
- United Kingdom
- Russia
- Japan
- South Korea
- Denmark
- Sweden
- Norway
- Finland
- Belarus
Duration of Stay
- The maximum visa-free stay is 45 days (including entry and exit dates).
- If travelers wish to stay longer or re-enter Vietnam after the 45 days, they must apply for a visa or eVisa.
Validity Period
- The visa exemption program for these 13 countries is extended until at least December 31, 2025.
- Each visit under the exemption must comply with the duration and purpose (typically tourism, visiting friends/family, or business meetings).
Entry Requirements Under Visa Exemption
Even though a visa is not required, travelers must still meet the following conditions:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
- A return ticket or onward travel documentation.
- Not listed on the Vietnam immigration blacklist.
- Must respect the length of stay (maximum 45 days); overstaying may result in penalties or bans on future travel.
